ADHD & EATING
LESSON #3

Dopamine Seeking,
ADHD & Food

The reward center in our brains favors foods that have high sugar and fat content. These foods are “energy rich” so we’re wired to seek them out!

It’s no secret that ADHD brains are on a hunt for dopamine. This can impact the kinds of foods we crave as well as how often we crave them.

Below are some suggestions for other strategies that can increase dopamine production and help us in our “hunt” for this neurotransmitter.

Ways we can increase dopamine:

• Eat protein
• Take probiotics
• Exercise
• Get adequate sleep
• Listen to music
• Meditate
• Sunlight
• Have fun!

* Bonus: Our brains love checking off little accomplishments because...dopamine.

Make a "ta da" list today (a list of things you actually got done) then let yourself celebrate!
