What is "nervous system regulation" and why does it matter for ADHD?

Today we'll discuss nervous system regulation and how it impacts our focus, energy, and emotions (and why regulation can be particularly tricky with ADHD)!


DAY 2

Day #3:  You're Already Using Sensory Strategies!



Your body is wise. Yes, that includes those of us with ADHD! It's always trying to help you find balance so you can function. 

Today we'll learn how your body is already doing this with sensory strategies and how you can build on this foundation!


Video #2: Your Body Is Wise ( Yep, Even If You Have ADHD!)
Your body is already using sensory strategies (even if you haven't been aware of it). When you understand the ways you are already using sensory strategies, it makes it easier to leverage them intentionally!
DAY 3

Just Calm Down!



Has anyone ever told you to "calm down" when you were upset? Was it effective... or just really annoying?

Being asked to "calm down" or "focus" is asking you to use thinking to change your nervous system state and that is NOT effective for most of us!

Today's video discusses the difference between "top-down" and "bottom- up" strategies. Both have their place, but there is a clear winner if you need quick, effective, and easy to use tools to impact your nervous system state!

Video 3: Why You Can't "Just Calm Down"
Yesterday we talked about why nervous system regulation matters (especially for those of us with ADHD). 
Today we'll talk about the tools that help us regulate and why sensory strategies are one of the best!
DAY 4
It's Time to Learn the Strategies!




If you are like me, this is the video you wanted to see FIRST! Sorry to make you wait, but there was a method to my madness. 

The intro (hopefully) helped you understand why these tools matter for those of us with ADHD and how they're effective. Now that you have this foundation, we're ready to get into the "meat" of our training!




Video 4: Learning the Strategies
Today we'll look at 3 different sensory systems (the vestibular, proprioceptive, and tactile systems) and how input to these systems can have a huge impact on our regulation!

Hopefully, you can now recognize the sensory strategies you're already using. Today you'll discover NEW strategies to help you focus, calm down, get energy, and manage your emotions!
