Ep 100. Overstimulated by Your Kids? You're NOT a Bad Parent (ADHD & Sensory Tips)

If parenting feels sensory intense for you—you're not alone.

As an ADHD and Executive Function coach (and OT), I work with a lot of parents—especially moms—who feel guilty because they get overwhelmed by the constant noise, touch, and chaos of life with kids.

Here’s what I want you to know:
👉 This isn’t a moral failing.
👉 It doesn’t make you a bad parent.
👉 It just means your sensory needs are different—and that's okay.

In fact, when you model how to advocate for your sensory needs, your kids learn to do the same. You're teaching emotional regulation, not taking space away from them.

Simple things can help:
✔ Take short sensory breaks
✔ Use kid-friendly language to talk about what your body needs
✔ Reduce overwhelm (think: noise-canceling headphones, tidy bins, soft lighting)
✔ Use proprioceptive activities like wall sits, stretching, or deep pressure play

You're not failing. You're adapting—and that’s real parenting.
